Anglers
over the age of 50 will be able to compete for trophies and prizes...
Dear Friends & Fellow Anglers,
The founding fathers of the OVER THE HILL RIP-OFF, Capt. Al, Dick
Shepherd, Capt. Socko Gorenflo and Rip Tosun, and all of us that
have participated in this event over the past twenty-four years
have so much to be proud of. Good things often come from humble
beginnings and this tournament certainly reflects that old and
trusted adage. Together we have raised $402,000.00 in a little
one-day fishing tournament helping those in need in Monroe County,
contributing generously to help “Catch the Cure for
Cystic Fibrosis” and providing financial assistance to Monroe
Association of ReMARCable Citizens.
Gordon Ross, Director of Development for
MARC in Monroe County, is officially at the helm as Tournament
Director of the event and he has given us stellar performances
over the past two years. Corrine Triviski took the helm last year
and did a fantastic job organizing this event. As always, we will
continue our tradition of contributing to MARC and to the Redbone
Tournament Series as an at-large offshore member of this prestigious
fundraising organization. Gordon, Corrine and MARC will direct
the operational portion of the event and Gary
and Susan Ellis,
founders of The Redbone, will provide their expertise in marketing
and publicity.
The good news, if you’re over fifty, you are
eligible to compete for trophies and prizes in the OVER
THE HILL. The bad news of course, is you’re over fifty!
Expect to see
lots of familiar faces because all of us old folks involved in
years past will be back for more fun, festivities and fish stories.
Pasta’s trophies will grace our awards table,
there will be a collection of outstanding items in our live and
silent auctions and Gary Dunn’s Ocean View Inn & Sports
Pub will continue to serve as the official tournament headquarters.
We
trust you will continue to give your support, as are we, to this
wonderful tribute to the founding fathers and for the financial
support it provides to vital organizations in our local community.
Good fishing, be well, and we look forward to seeing you again
this coming year!
Good fishing,
Al McLeod & Bill Kelly
